Back in the early 80's, many people had Kung-Fu tea sets in their homes and enjoyed sipping Taiwan's Jade Oolong, White-Tip Oolong, and Amber Oolong in traditional tea ceremony style. The younger generation lacked the time and the interest to participate, so they searched for something of their own. Thus, Cha-Bon-Bon was created. It is a black or green tea based beverage blended with flavored syrups, milk, sugar, and ice with a cocktail shaker. At the bottom of the drink are spoonfuls of chewy black pearls (tapioca). Consumers slurp the pearls through a specially designed jumbo straw while enjoying the beverage at the same time. "It is fun and civilized!" exclaimed a group of young Cha-Bon-Bon lovers at a cafe in Westwood, Los Angeles, California.
